There has been so much that is going on with my dad! ALL GOOD NEW. That is just what we want to hear. Im lucky to be able to be up at the hospital every day. It the best thing to be able to have that one and on time with him and get to hear all the good news that has been going on!
So after his 4th surgery it took him about 5 days to get better and be able to not have so many medication. He was on so many. One was every 15 min, next was 30 min, next was every hour and the last was every 4 hours, and then there was one that was he would get ever 6 hours. So all he was doing for 5 days was sleeping. But when that was all over and pain was under control, things started looking up again! The mass was NOT cancer, his belly was closing up just right and he was becoming more himself!
When his belly was all swelled up they had to but a NG tube down his nose to get all the fluids out. He has that in him for about 11 days. It was so uncomfortable for him and just a pain in the ass. It was huge!
Friday January 20th he finally got the NG tube out! I thought the tube would become smaller when he was down there, but nope it was that big the whole way down to his belly! I couldn't believe it. I felt so bad seeing it come out, my dad was gagging the whole time. But it was so nice to see it finally out! He was super happy and was able to breath again. Doesn't he look so handsome.
That same Friday we had another big thing happen! For the first time my dad was able to get up into a normal wheel chair and stay in that for a hour or so. It was amazing to see these huge things happen all in one day. I just cant believe how wonderful my dad really is. A Guy from Hangers came to talk to my dad able his legs and arm. We were talking about all the different types of legs he could get and that he would be as tall as he wanted to be. It was amazing to see what you could do with your legs and hands. They told us that it would be about 2-3 weeks and he should be up and WALKING.. yes you read right WALKING. :)
Things just kept getting better and better!
Saturday January 21st My brother and his family came down and was able to get my dad a hair cut. He has been wanting to get done for so many weeks now. He was happy and said he felt like a new man, and was ready to take on the world. :) His left hand is coming back more now then it was before, it seems like each day he can move it just a little more. They did so more test on it and all they can see is that he has tennis elbow, and some nerve damage. It will come back and will have full movement. Its just going to take sometime.
Monday the 23th was a good day for us also. Over the weekend my dad got out all his stitches in his legs, arm and fingers. He got different socks on to form his legs a little more. He got these braces that helped him with eating, writing and everyday things. Him and Connor were able to play break the Ice and was also able to eat ice cream together.Connor was Papa nurse for that dad. He would fluff his pillow, move him up and down, push him in the wheel chair, and feed him. Anything papa needed Connor was right there helping him. It was the sweetest thing in the world to see. Connor now wants to be a nurse when he grows up. He told me when the people push the nurse button he will go to their room and give them medication and give them a drink and just help it! My sweet baby!
Now Yesterday was yet another great day! My best friend Amanda came from Idaho to come see my dad! We just got to hang out and talk about everything with my dad. Zoe my dad wonderful nurse called my mom and told her to bring up a BEER for my dad. Yup a beer. The doctor told us that he could eat anything ans drink everything so why not bring up a beer for him. :) So we shut the door and gave my dad a cold Bud Light, and lets just say is was an amazing taste from what he said. Who would of known that beer would make you feel better and know that your dad is BACK.
Today my dad was up in the wheel chair for 5 hours. The longest he has ever been up in it! They let him play around with an ipad and set up this drinking hose. It there so he can get himself a drink on his own and don't have to keep asking us. They told us the best news of anything. REHAB Monday!!! He isn't getting anymore IV he is able to take pills by mouth now, and he is only on the feeding tube during the night. They are saying that the feeding tube could be coming out next week if things stay on track. And one more thing tomorrow he will be getting into a power wheel chair!! YAY. He will even be able to use his left hand.
Tomorrow he will be going into surgery once more! Nothing to big he just has his huge scab on his right arm that is so deep that they has to take it off and stitch it together. It will be a in and out surgery. So nothing to worry about! Things are looking up and we cant wait till next week to see him in rehab!!
We see the light at the end of the tunnel!!!
I know this was a sucky up date but I'm up here with my dad and he keeps telling me to get off the damn computer!!! haha.
HE IS BACK!!!!! :)
