So i am by far the worst blogger ever. I really do try and keep it updated as much as i can, i mean every day i think about what im going to say in my blogs, but i just never get around to them. Ive been busy these last few weeks. We have been trying to learn everything i need to know before my dad gets home. I had to learn wound care cause my dad still has an open wound on his belly, i had to learn how to give him shots, learn how to work his legs and arms out. I mean the list just goes on and on. Ive been getting to the hospital about 9 and not getting home till about 9. So its a full day and by the time i get home all i want to do is sleep. So im sorry i havent been able to keep you updated as much as i would hope i could. Now with my dad home i can do it more..
Okay so lets go back a week ago. It was a Wednesday and we went up to the burn unit to get a check up on his belly. My dad was fine all day long till after 4:00. At that time he just felt like he was filled with gas. Well he was but he was still filled with poop. It got so bad that once again they had to put the NG tube back down. Here we go again. They started him on Iv's and started giving him a LOT more medication to make him poop. He was on 4 different types to make him go. So he was going all day and all night long. I felt so bad for him. Finally after 3 days they were able to take the tube out, but he was still on the medication to make him go poop. But that was better then having to keep the tube down him and possible an other surgery . Its been almost two weeks and my dad has been so much better. Now that he is on this medicationto make him go poop, you can tell a differences in him. But after a hand full of days with him pooping 24/7, my dad was getting really tired of it and wanted to see if there was anything they could do about it. Well they did a few test and told us that finally everything was back to normal! FINALLY. It felt so good to hear that his belly and everything was noraml and going good.. We are just hoping that nothing like this will happen again! My dad has been though so much, that we dont want anything to go wrong again. We are so ready for him to be home again! We just cant wait. :)

Weight lost
So 4 weeks ago. I told myself that i would try my hardest to lose weight. I gave up soda, and just really watched what i was eating. With my wonderful Iphone i got this great app called. my fitnessPal. It has helped me keeping track of what i eat and how many calories i eat a day. With my weight i was and what i wanted to lose, i was able to eat about 1200 Calories a day. I did pretty good each day. I was always under my calorie count. It was a great feeling to see that i could lose weight if i really tired.
Well after 4 weeks I'm down 16 pounds!!!!
To me i cant tell a differences but everyone keeps saying that i have lost weight and they could really tell.
I was looking at pictures i took this weekend and i can now tell that i have lost weight. My face i can tell. So I'm going to leave you before pictures and after.. I still have a lot to lose. About 25 before i am where i want to be..
And me just Saturday..
I can tell in my face. Cant you? Its coming along but i still have a lot to go.. Wish me luck cause i need it. :)
Outing with my dad
So on Saturday was a pretty big deal of my family! We were finally able to take my dad out of the hospital for a few hours! My dad got to pick where he wanted to go. So he picked to go to the Natural History Museum of Utah. Its new and just HUGE. This was the first time that he was out in front of people. Different people then the hospital. I was scared to think what other people would think about him. But there wasn't anything that was different. My dad did great with all the people and moving around them. It was like he wasn't in the wheel chair. He did it like a pro.
And It was nice that all my family was able to be there for this time! Everyone was there and my dad was so happy!
The Museum was so cool, they had about everything you could think of. It was so nice, i wish we had more time to look around cause we could of spent 6 hours there and still not see everything!
My dad loved it! It was just great to see my dad out side of the hospital and just be himself, and for us to be a normal family again!
11 more days!!!
11 more days till we get our family back!!! ahh im so excited
Denver Broncos.
So lets start this off on a good note. Rehab is going great! Things are looking up, we are liking the people a lot more and liking that we are getting closer to being home! My dad is doing more and more each day, he is improving so much! Its wonderful.I cant say enough how proud i am of him..
Okay now for the bad news! Starting on Saturday he started getting really bad belly pains like he was getting before his first belly surgery. It was looking like he was in worst pain then he was before. He was killing him.. they did an x-ray and it showed that he was backed up like no other. They said he was backed up 23 feet and that his eyes were blue but should of been brown. Haha so they started to just watch him to see if he would start pooing again. After 5 days they finally said that he was in so much pain they were going to finally start him on doing something. He was in so much pain he was puking so much, they said that he was close to puking up poo. Horrible right. My dad kept telling him that something was wrong and he didn't feel like himself. It was breaking my heart cause i knew that he was in so much pain and the doctor weren't doing anything. So finally they got him an other x-ray.. And it was AN OTHER obstruction of the intestines. It was looking like we were going to need an other surgery. They told us that they would try everything else other then surgery. So they put the NG tube down him again to get all the fluids out if his belly and starting giving him enema to make him poop a lot. They had to give him soap suds also, a long with a shot that flushed out all the toxin from his body. It seemed to be working but it was sad to see my dad go through that again. After 3 enema's, 2 soap subs, and 4 shots. He is finally starting to feel better. They will keep giving him shots in the belly till they know he is completely cleaned out, so every other day he will be getting them. They were able to take out the NG tube on Friday. Even though he had a little set back, he is still doing great.
Now on to the great news!! Friday we got my dad LEGS!! Yup he is finally standing up and walking again! It is the best feeling in the world to watch my dad walk again! Its like he didn't lose his legs at all. I was there to watch him walk for the first time and it was amazing thing! He is now walking like a pro, he still has a walker to keep him balanced, but how he is using his legs is just like he was before he lost them. He stands just the way he did before and is walking as fast as he was before. Its just so amazing that my dad can be just like he was before all this went on. Gosh i cant say it enough I'm just amazed about my DAD. He is amazing!!!
Okay now more good news.. When my dad was really sick and was getting better. We thought that we should share about his story. We hear about all this true story, that they do movies on and how teams helps the person with anything. So we send off a story about my dad and what he went through. We didn't think we would get anything back. But we were wrong.. We got something back from the Denver Broncos. My dad favorite team.... And this is what we got back from them..
My sister wrote back and explained my dad little set back and kinda told her what my dad would love from them. And now we are just waiting to hear back from them. It would be amazing to get something from them, even just a little card. My dad would be on 7th heaven if he got anything from them. And just knowing he has touched someone else life with his story is great! Yup my dad is pretty amazing if i say so myself!

Hello ladies,
Thank you so much for the inspiring letter that you wrote to the Denver Broncos about your Terry. It sounds like he is doing well now so congratulations on his recovery. Unfortunately right now none of our players are here since it is their off season. Is there anything else we could do to help your father? We send out “Fan Packs” to people which just consists of small Broncos items and I could throw in a t-shirt if you would like that. If you could provide me a little more with what you are looking for that would be great because your father/husband truly does sound amazing and we would love to do what we can to help. Thanks.

Rehab
Well we have been in rehab for 12 days!
To say the least it has been O.K. Good for my dad, but the first couple of days i HATED IT.
It was hard for all of us to leave the burn unit, i think it was hared then what we really thought. We were in the ICU for 61 days! 11 Days in the CCU, 2 days in the IMCU, and 48 Days in the Burn ICU, its a huge change from ICU to a normal center. In the ICU we were taken care of and it was 1 nurse to two people. In rehab its 1 nurse to every 6 people. Huge difference. So you get where I'm coming from. It was 61 days of on hands care to having to wait 45 minutes to get something..
So the first few days, my dad was just really down, he left his family up on the 4th floor, and now having to start all over with new people, was really hard for him. So when he was down, i was down. It was a hard adjustment. For 5 days my dad didn't have a BM (Sorry if this is to TMI) Cause of all the medication he was getting , it blocked him up. Well the gave him some pills to make him go to the bathroom. Well the second day we were there, my dad wasn't feeling well at all. I mean he was having BM left and right. And if you know my dad he isn't able to hold for very long. After he had his cancer, it messed up his bowls. Anyways he was pretty sick. He wasn't able to make it to the bathroom, 1: Cause he cant move himself to the bathroom, cause he cant walk, 2: cause the nurses wouldn't come and help him, and 3: cause my dad doesn't want me to help him to go tot he bathroom. So i was sitting there helpless while my dad had a BM. As soon as he had it i went to the nurse and said that my dad needed help. By the way the nurse button was on for 10 minutes already. The nurse said she would be right with us. Well while he was sitting in his own BM, his stupid speech therapy(That's an other story) was in the room with him trying to do therapy while he was sitting in it. So really do you think he could of done therapy while you are sitting in your own poop. I know i wouldn't. Well it had been 20 minutes, still no nurse. So i went and got them again, 10 more minuter past still no one. Finally after 45 minutes of waiting i went for the 6th time and i yelled at the nurses. Each time i went to get her, she was on the computer! Its not like she was really busy and couldn't stop for 10 minutes. I mean if she was busy, i would understand why she wouldn't come, but she was sitting on the computer playing a GAME on facebook. NOT RIGHT when i had to go 6 times to get her and the call button had been on for 45 minutes.. So i was pissed. I went off on her. I wasn't a very happy person that day at all! Get this, when she Finally came in she yelled at my dad " TERRY THIS IS THE 5th TIME TODAY, I'M SICK OF IT" Wouldn't you get pissed at her to and let it all out! I'm very proud of myself. :)
So that day was a very bad day for us! My dad was so upset, he cried all day, and wouldn't talk to anyone! It broke my heart like no other..
So now on to Speech Therapy.... My Dad wasn't coherent for a good month. There would be days that he would be talking like no other and then something would happened and he would be so drugged up that he wasn't there. So speech wanted to do some test to see if he had any brain damage, For all this. First of all I have been with my dad for 20 years. I know who he is and who he was BEFORE this happened. I know that my dad doesn't spell well, or doesn't do math very good. Well all the question they asked him was Spelling and math! Both of the things my dad wasn't good at. But to me i thought he did pretty good. It would take him a few seconds to get the answer (Like it would take me to get the answer) but once he got it, it was right! There was a few that he got wrong but i also got some wrong. So after an hour of doing spell and math. They told my dad that he did have some brain damage, he was also very slow, he couldn't multi task, and he couldn't stay on track. UMM hell i think my dad did really good, cause i think i did about the same as he did. Heck i almost think he did better then i did. It was just very hard to hear them say that my dad did have brain damage and that he was slow! It kinda pissed me off. Cause they have only known my dad for 2 days and they didn't know him before all this happened. IF you has anyone that knows him, would say that he is the same person as he was before this all went on.. I know that this is there job and they know what they are doing. But he hear then say those things to my dad really put a damper on him. Needless to say i cried, and i cried hard. I didn't think he has anything wrong with him. He is very fast with things and knows how to get things down. But they think he needs help. So we are in speech therapy doing lame tasks to get my dad brina back up. Its like he is going thought 1 grade again. It just makes me mad that after 2 days and an hour they think they know him like no one else. After 20 years with my dad, he is still the same wonderful dad! I know I'm getting pissed at them for doing there job, but hey i cant help it. :) I know who my dad is and was!
Well after those first few days, its been pretty good. We have started to like the nurse a lot more now, and my dad is doing amazing!!! Last Friday he got fitted for his LEGS!!!! And yesterday they came in!! Well half of them, we are still waiting on his foot. But that should be here Monday at 3:30 and he should be standing on them by 4:30. Talk about exciting! My dad is able to sit up on his own from laying down, he can move himself over to the end of the bed, he also can transfer from the wheel chair to the bed.! We have only been there for 12 days and each day my dad does new things. He is also feeding himself, brushing his own teeth, writing, changing his tv channel, and getting himself a drink. There is so many things that he is doing that we take every day for granted. He is having to learn EVERYTHING all over again! And i know he is going to do wonders with them! Next step is walking and getting home. 21 Days... 21 Day till we get our life back. Our life will be different and things are going to change but I have my Dad and he is ALIVE!!! Just 21 day! Can you believe it. 21 days!
21 Day till this handsome man is HOME!!!

I love this time of year, it seems to always put everyone in the love spirits. I know it does me. I LOVE IT. So please link up so i can read your love story!
1. How long have you and your significant other been together?
We have been together for 3 years! January 21, 2009
2. How did you meet? {What's your "love" story?}
High school is our love story. After 3 years of liking each other and talking and getting to know each other, he finally asked me out! It took 3 years but it was pretty amazing!
3. If married, how long have you been married? If not, is this the guy you hope to marry? {do tell}
We aren't married YET but i do plan on getting married to him!!!
4. If you are married, where did you get married at? Big or small wedding? If not, where would you like to get married? And will it be big or small?
I would like a small wedding! Somewhere outside in the spring time! We both have big families so i think it might be BIG. Its a good thing though!
5. Do you have any nick-names that you call one another? Do share!
We really don't have nick-names, but i always call him Babe.
6. Name 3 things you love most about your honey.
His kind heart, His personality, and His love for life and everything
7. Tell us how he proposed? Or your ideal proposal?
No Propose yet..
But i really don't care how he will ask me, i just want someone there to get it all in pictures! I have to have everything captured. But i know whatever he comes up with will be amazing!
8. Is he a flowers and teddy bear kind of guy for v-day, or strawberries, champagne, and rose petals?
He is more of a flower and teddy bear kind of guy.
9. Are you a sunset dinner on the beach kind of girl, or pop a movie in and relax on the couch?
I'm for sure a pop a movie in and relax on the couch kind of girl! But i do love to spice it up every now and then!
10. Tell us one thing you'd like to do with your significant one day. If you could do anything? Go anywhere?
Travel the world! Maybe go to Spain. Logan has always wanted to go there! So that would be the perfect place to take my babe! :)
11. Tell us what you plan on doing on this Valentine's Day.
We have nothing plan at the moment, but I've told him that he must take me to see "The Vow" So I'm guessing we will go see that.
12. Are you asking for anything this Valentine's day?
No I'm not really, but getting strawberries is always a thing Logan gets me. So I best be getting me some..
13. Give us one piece of advice of keeping a relationship strong and full of love.
Talking, working things out. That is a must in a relationship that you want to work! Always make time for " The 2 of US" Never forget to tell them how much they mean to you! Always say I LOVE YOU...
14. Show us a picture of what love means to you.
Goodbye

After 48 days,
5 surgery,
dozen of ups and downs
We finally are leaving the burn unit!
Bitter sweet, that's for sure.
We were super excited to start the next journey but yet so scared. The Burn unit became our family, our home away from home. We knew that we would be leaving but it was a very sad day. When we were getting all packed up to leave, we took everything down and just sat in Room 25. We talked about the good and bad days in that unit. We got pictures with everyone and headed out for the world, well i guess just rehab. But to us that was the world. No more ICU, no more under the doctor wings, no more IV's, and no more surgery's! We moved from room 30, to room 28, and then made our home in room 25. There were so many good things that happened in that room but yet some bad things.
We made a FAMILY there and we will always be apart of that wonderful family! We can never thank you enough but THANK you burn unit for saving my dad's life. Many times!
As you can see the Burn unit made it so we felt like family. They made us laugh when we needed it and
Made us feel important when we felt like we had nothing left in us!
Here's to the next chapter!
Here we come rehab! :)
My dad is ready to go home, and we have a set date of coming home....
Ready.

Moving on up
Its been a week that my dad has been out of surgery. The reason why he went into surgery because when he was really sick he got blisters all over his body. There was a really big and bad one on the inside of his right elbow. Anyways it scabbed really bad, it was black and deep. They are wanting to really get him ready for this prosthetic. They couldn't do anything about his prosthetic till that fall off, so the best thing was to remove it. So that's just what they did. It took about an hour and an hour after his surgery he was up and doing more therapy. It was great to see him up and going around that day. So next step prosthetic.
Also that same day was a big day for us!
He was able to get up into a power wheel chair!!! It was pretty amazing to see him getting around all on his own. He was about to do it with his right arm. The whole time that he has been driving his has only ran over mine and Connor foot. Haha
Ill give you a fast update on his therapy. Last time a said anything about it was when he wasn't able to move his left arm at all. Well now he is able to move it up to his nose and flex it a little. It has improved so much in the last 4 weeks. Its just amazing!

Can you see anything different here???
Yea that's right he has no tube!!! Nothing at all. There is nothing that is connected to him! That means he is healthy!!!! Gosh isn't he just handsome!
I look back at the last 9 weeks and i cant believe what he has been through!
This man is my HERO and so much more!
Connor getting a ride with his Papa.
So over all last week was a great week. It just made us know that home is closer then we really think!
I love him
